Email Permission

You have to make sure that the people who subscribe to your email services are there voluntarily. Sending emails to people who haven’t willfully ‘opted in’ to your mail services increases bounce rates and even puts your site at risk of spam reports, a multitude of which could get your entire domain blacklisted. You should also be w\aware that marketing permissions expire every six months. If a subscriber hasn’t opened a mail for half a year, it might be wise to let them ‘re-opt in’. Most times, it is advisable to use a ‘double opt in’ function. This means that after them might have signed up.

This is the creative part of the process. You must make sure that your content is of top quality, and are targeted to meet their specific needs, not just bombarding hem with a barrage of mails for them to sift through. You should also meet certain requirements. Spam laws require that an unsubscribe link, a postal address and a reminder for list permission be added to every mail you send

You should also include an ‘update profile’ link. This will enable them make changes to their profiles and in the long run, help you to know the type of mails you send to them in the future.

You should make sure that the method of email importation that you have adopted is very sure and ensure that you categorize emails carefully and properly

Another highly important footnote comes when a person unsubscribes from your email service. Once you notice this, you should unsubscribe them, not delete them. If you go with the latter, you run the risk of re-adding them later and still sending them mails. Unsubscribing will prevent mails from being sent to them and by extension, save you from future awkwardness or trouble.
